Sow directly outdoors March–May in a sunny or lightly shaded spot with well-drained soil. Scatter seeds thinly onto prepared soil and gently press into the surface or lightly cover with soil. Water gently and keep moist while seeds establish. For earlier plants, seeds can also be started indoors February–April and transplanted once the risk of frost has passed.
